Course Overview
Quest
The department recognizes the significance of extracurricular activities in fostering holistic development, creativity, critical thinking and a passion for literature, and so conducts QUESTS – weekly literary activities like spill poetry, open mic, guest talks, debate, writing for blogs, story building, appreciation and review of films, lectures, music, and other visual arts.
These activities provide students with a platform to explore various aspects of literature beyond the confines of their regular curriculum. Through discussions, debates, book clubs, and interactive sessions, QUEST encourages students to think critically, analyze different perspectives, and broaden their intellectual horizons.
Philocaly
The department realised a need for an event where students from various fields can gather together to appreciate literature and share their insights thus, which led to the inception of Shodhana, that later metamorphosed into Philocaly, an event which appreciates beauty in all its senses through various literary competitions.
This literary fest serves as a platform for students to come together and celebrate the beauty and power of literature. It recognizes the importance of fostering a love for reading, writing, and creative expression among students. Philocaly provides a space where students, regardless of their educational backgrounds, can engage in a vibrant literary community, share their ideas, and showcase their talents. Philocaly offers students an opportunity to explore different genres, cultures, and perspectives through literature. Philocaly encourages them to step out of their comfort zones, embrace diversity, and develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for the written word.
Extension
To supplement the regular curriculum and enhance the learning experience, the department organizes extension activities and student faculty programs, which serve as a bridge between theoretical knowledge and practical application, allowing students to gain valuable hands-on experience in their chosen fields. This endeavour provides a varied platform for students to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical settings, develop essential skills, and gain a deeper understanding of their subjects.
To give the students a practical idea on teaching, the department conducts regular extension activities and student faculty programs, where they actively engage in teaching at neighbouring educational institutions.
