Objectives:
- The course deals with HRM and ERM concepts

- Major activities on the working life of a workforce from the entry of a worker to the job until the retirement or leaving a job
- Guiding the students regarding significance of HR relationships and employees relationship with their employers
PAPER I: Nature and Scope of HRM: Recruitment Selection, Training and Development. 10 HRS
- Meaning, Objectives of HRM, Organisation of H R Department, Qualities of H R Manager, H R Panning – Objectives of HRP, Steps in HRP, Problems in HRP, Recent trends in HR.
- Recruitment– Process, Sources – Selection and Interview – Steps in Scientific selection process– Types of Interviews – Placement and Induction – Meaning, Training and Development – Methods.
PAPER II: Performance Appraisal, Job Evaluation, Promotion, Transfers And Demotion: Employee Compensation: 10 HRS
- Performance Evaluation – Objectives, Process, Methods, Uses and problems.
- Methods of Job evaluation– Promotion, Transfers, Demotions and Separations.
- Meaning, Factors affecting wages, Wage plans and policies– Fringe benefits – Industrial Disputes Act – Workmen’s Compensation Act, Minimum Wages Act, EPF and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, ESI Act, Payment of Gratuity Act, India and the ILO.
PAPER III: Nature and Scope of ERM: Organisational Discipline and Grievance Handling. 10 HRS
- Introduction to ERM- Meaning, Features, Importance, ERM tools- Core issues of ERM- Organisational aspects in ERM- Organisational commitment & engagement- How Organisations work- Organisational culture- Conflicts in Organisations.
- Discipline- Meaning, Objectives, Progressive discipline- Types of Organisational discipline- Types of disciplinary problems- Common disciplinary procedures. Grievances- Meaning, Reasons for grievances- Steps in grievance redressal procedure- Grievance interview.
PAPER IV: Participation, Empowerment, Rewards, Contemporary issues in Employee Relations: 10HRS
- Employee participation- Meaning, Advantages, Methods. Employee Empowerment- Meaning, Behavioural effects of Employee empowerment. Employees Rewards- Meaning, Need for Employee rewards- Ways to reward employees- Reward vs. Recognition- Contemporary issues in ERM- Careerism- Stress & Employee wellness- Organisational Justice- Organisational Misconduct- Issues with Contract Labour & Temporary workforce. Organisational Change- Diverse workforce & MNC- Employee relations during crisis- Recession.
