Objectives
- To understand skills and techniques of photography and editing
- As the course deals with current trends in the field of journalism, it would help the students to meet the challenges in the field
PAPER I: Introduction to Photography 12 Hrs
Professional photography, Branches of professional photography, advertising photography, scope of advertising photography, photography as a career, studying some great masters of photography.
UNIT 2: Photography Equipments 8 Hrs
Equipment and techniques, cameras and lenses, getting exposure right, types of lenses,
Standard lens, wide angles lenses, telephoto lenses, telephoto zooms, fish eye lenses and fast lens.
PAPER III: Photography and Lighting Techniques 10 Hrs
Composition ,rules, picture with the impact, the focal point, centre of interest, rule of thirds, perspective and viewpoint, shapes and form, pattern and outline, movement, creativity, zone system, using simple filters, cropping. Understanding and handling lights, adapting day light, direct light diffused light, reflected light, Controlling light and measuring light.
PAPER IV: Photo Editing Principles 10 hours
Basic design purpose, principles and process, layout , format and page make up guidelines, aesthetics of design, importance of visual appeal, use of color, boxing .graphics ,diagrams and illustrations, desk top publishing with word processor, skills in logo, letterhead and brochure design.
