INSTITUTION HAS CREATED AN ECOSYSTEM FOR INNOVATIONS INCLUDING INCUBATION CENTRE AND OTHER INITIATIVES FOR CREATION AND TRANSFER OF KNOWLEDGE
The cumulative efforts of College Research Cell, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Multimedia Centre, Student Projects and Internship have created an ambient ecosystem for development of innovative products of social importance. The following innovative practices are a result of ideas of students and faculty in collaboration with the industry / agencies to reach out the stakeholders / community.
Inventio” initially it was called research committee and later Research and Developmental Cell, established with the objective to create research environment in the college. Under this, seven IPR activities conducted from 2013 -14 to 2017-18. In 2015-16, two student and five staff projects were funded by the Alva’s Education Foundation (VIEW DOCUMENT). A multidisciplinary research journal called ‘Alva’s Anveshan’ a biannual journal was released during June 2015. During 2017-18 and 2018-19, two workshops (on 14-2-2018, 14-3-2018 and 16-3-2018 respectively) for UG science students (VIEW DOCUMENT) and a guest lecture for faculty members (23-4-18 and 7-5-2018 ) have organised (VIEW DOCUMENT), which resulted 2 research project proposals from 7 students and submitted to the Inventio. The required facilities met by the college for these projects in Biotechnology dept. Indian National Science Academies’ sponsored workshop on “Biodiversity for Human Welfare” was organized by the Inventio on 19 & 20 Aug. 2018. The staff members were encouraged to participate in conferences, seminars and workshops (VIEW DOCUMENT). They were given support in terms of registration fee payment, travel charges and DA as per the policy of the college (VIEW DOCUMENT).
Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC): The College Entrepreneurship cell (EDC) has organised two workshops (30th, 31st Aug & 1st Sept. 2017 and 10th to 12th Jan, 2018) on Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp in association with EDII, Ahmedabad for under graduate and post graduate students to startup the own enterprises. It has provided a platform for students to interact with business experts and created environment to start own business.
Alvas Audio-visual production studio is a well equipped audio-visual production studio. MA MCJ students have produced more than 80 news bulletins under MoU program comprising developmental stories on Agriculture, Science, Arts and local community activities. The students have produced 11 informative shorts movies, 18 documentaries, 80 news bulletins, and 25 interviews. All these informative multimedia available in online.
“Sheethal Pharmacy Management System” is a software developed by Pragathi and Ramani III BCA students that helps to manage the medical store for stock maintenance, marketing, billing, report generation and also to bifurcate the quotation. VIEW DOCUMENT
“Connect Moodbidri” is an android app developed by Mr. Mohammad Alfaz, III BCA student on request of Preethi Graphics Moodbidri. It provides the details of name of blood donors, emergency connects, bus arrival and departure, 10 panchayath details, jobs availability, connect map and tourism places in Moodbidri. Watch Video
“The website of Mahalaxmi Comforts” was developed by Shyam Shanbhag, III BCA student as per the request. It is used for Mahalaxmi Comforts for the major aspects of its functioning. www.mahalaxmicomforts.in
“D-IT Solutions” (www.ditsolutions.net ) a start up website developed by Shyam Shanbhag, III BCA student as per the demand of Mahalaxmi Comforts where solutions for Network Designing, Setup & Configuration, PMS Solutions Setup, PC Configuration & Setup are provided.
“BCA Reference Library” website (www.bcareflibrary.ml) developed by Sohan Naik and Shyam Shanbhag, III BCA student during 2017-18 which provides necessary study material reference for the BCA students and also handles other tasks related to the curriculum.
“Bidiru Moodida Naadinalli Swacchathe Moodali- Solid waste management video” (Open File) as designed by Sandeep Achar, III BVA student under the guidance of Vipin (Staff) for the social awareness on solid waste management, as per the demand of Town Municipality Corporation, Moodbidri. VIEW DOCUMENT
“Bestie is a new women napkin developed by Kiran Reddy, III B.Com student with the guidance of women development cell. The product was launched in Alva’s College and product (Rs. 1 lakh) was purchased by the foundation as business promoter.
”Paschim Trust brochure, Visiting card Logo design” developed by Sandeep Achar, III BVA student for Paschim Trust of Mangalore. He has designed the brochures, visiting card, logo, documentary, route map, campaign work for the organization.
“IoT Based Water Management System Using Android App was developed by Ms. Akshatha II M. Sc Computer Science under the guidance of staff. The Project was accepted as internship project carried out in Kakunje Software Private Limited, Mangalore. This App enables a user for monitoring, payment of bill and controlling the water flow at home by online mobile App.
“Iot Based Smart Irrigation System with Android App” developed by Mr. Divyaksha Prabhu II M.Sc. Computer Science student under the guidance of staff, to help farmers for irrigation. This system provides complete monitoring action of sensors in field. It also provides accurate information about temperature, humidity and soil moisture to the farmers. VIEW DOCUMENT
