The department of Journalism of Alva’s college, Moodbidri, organized ‘’interaction program’’ for Journalism students of the college, on Tuesday, at Journalism Seminar Hall.
Speaking at the interaction program, Bureau Chief The New Indian Express Mangaluru, M Raghuram said, journalism is a knowledge industry, where more knowledge puts you in more prominent position. He added and said, one should know more about their surroundings, before venturing media field. Moreover, writing is vital for success in most careers and disciplines today, so students must begin to acquire good writing skills early to prepare for adult life, he added. Journalism is all about understanding and disseminating the information, he noted. Hence, journalism students can develop social milieu through writing letters to editor, reporting social problems and sketching articles and features. Replying to queries about the ethics and ism in journalism of a student, he said ‘journalism itself is losing its ism and told the students don’t to be a leftist or rightist and be a centrist’.
He released weekly in house magazines of the department ‘Alva’s Mirror’, ‘Alva’s vision’ and ‘Suddimane’ during this occasion.
Alva’s PG Studies Journalism Department Head Dr Mouya Jeevan Ram, Assistant Professors Srinivas Pejatthaya, Reshma were present among others.
